What do you call the hardware parts of a conga?

‘Manito’ was prepping tuning lug blanks to bend and polish. Our custom hardware is fabricated from 304 stainless steel, and superior in strength, craftsmanship and lustre.

We offer a variety of stainless steel hardware for use with our handcrafted solid shell drums or to pair with your own drum shell. Special Sale! This PreMounted™ Fat Cat™ Buffalo Skin For LP 12.5″ Tumba With Comfort Curve 2 (X) Crown is 2.2mm thick. The sound is warm and classic with crisp slaps, round open tones, rich bass, excellent projection and controlled overtones. The playing surface is slightly dense and dimpled. This skin type is not to be confused with Thai water buffalo.

Here’s a recent shot of Swen handcrafting a timbale head from our thin calf skin and 3/16″ square stainless steel flesh hoop. He’s trimming the excess skin for a perfect fit.

A customer recently brought us these older Toca congas (9.75″ requinto, two 10.75″ quintos) to upgrade the skins and flesh hoops. They will only be used in his studio, so I mounted 1.9mm Middle Eastern Steer across the entire set to better control overtones while preserving action. Check out the side plates and the size of the bottoms!

Enjoy before and after? We upgraded the skins, flesh hoops and lugs, as well as refinished a customer’s 6.25″ x 7.25″ bongos. They are in great shape with no need for crack/stave separation repair. I mounted/tucked a .9mm horse skin on the macho and 1.2mm steer skin on the hembra. There was very little space between the shell and crown.

We recently upgraded the skins to ultra thin calf on these frame drums. The sound is very bright and resonant. We always enjoy working on a variety of drums- the spice of life!
