Steer (Middle East) produces a warm and classic sound with crisp slaps, round open tones, rich bass and controlled overtones. It has medium action, very smooth and somewhat supple playing surface, and is ideal for live and studio applications. It is the most versatile skin type we offer, and our shop favorite!

I have purchased numerous Middle East Steer skins from Swen for my congas. They make my drums sound great. Swen is very knowledgeable and experienced, and always recommends the perfect thickness of skin for the sound I am seeking from my drums. Additionally, I have purchased several crown rims and custom formed tuning lugs made by Ryan (“Manito”). The rims always fit perfectly and the lugs are super strong, allowing for precise tuning at all tensions. I highly recommend Manito Percussion to all drummers.
