I strive to find a balanced contrast in sound between the bright, resonant crack of horse skin on the macho and deep, throaty punch of steer skin on the hembra. 1mm horse and 1.5mm steer are the sweet spots for LP 7-1/4″ and 8-5/8″ bongos.
