Just finished upgrading the skins on these Moperc bongos for a customer to Middle Eastern Steer– 1mm on the macho, 1.6mm on the hembra. The lugs on these were long enough to mount the skins without using mounting lugs.

Need tuning lugs? Made of 5/16″ 304 stainless steel, these custom formed tuning lugs are cold bent into a variety of shapes and lengths ranging from 4″ to 7-1/4″. We can match most conga and bongo lugs. Each one includes high strength cadmium coated washer and 1/2″ nut, as well as a black rubber thread cap.

Our Horse Skins are sourced from Peru, and will elevate the sound of any drum that requires a tough yet thin skin for high tuning- especially bongo macho. It produces very crisp slaps, bright and resonant tones, has lively action, and an ultra smooth and forgiving playing surface. Available in natural, amber and chocolate colors.

‘Manito’ just finished this solid shell black walnut conga for a neighbor to the north. It’s made from locally and sustainably sourced black walnut wood from Athens, GA. Our 304 stainless steel hardware is very strong, lustrous and guaranteed for the life of the drum.

I caught ‘Manito’ installing sideplates on a walnut quinto. Our hardware is fabricated from 304 stainless steel and guaranteed for life. 304 is very strong and will never rust.

The leaves are falling and inspiring. This is an amber matched set befitting of the autumn season. I mounted Middle Eastern Steer to be used in the studio.
